Read guideA five-step path from one gold click to your first prestige.
- 1
Click the castle, then buy click power
Your first gold comes from the keep. Spend early gold on click-power upgrades before you dump everything into population. The [getting started](/guides/getting-started/) page shows the opening ladder.
- 2
Hire peasants for idle gold
Population becomes peasants in the fields. Once idle gold outpaces clicks, expand the fog and unlock the monastery. [How to play](/guides/how-to-play/) covers the building order.
- 3
Unlock stone, then wood
The guild produces stone; wood arrives later and is usually the bottleneck. Follow [resource priority](/tier-list/resources/) so you do not starve the harbor.
- 4
Sail, trade, then prestige
Expedition ships buy discovery. Trade hegemony buys influence. When the monument appears, open the unlock tree instead of clicking it by accident — see [how to prestige](/guides/prestige/).
- 5
Plan the next run
Spend prestige on production that hurt this run (often wood) plus quality-of-life like Royal Servants. Use the [prestige planner](/tools/prestige-planner/) and the [first-hour checklist](/tools/first-hour/).
